Ayurveda means the science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science) and is one of the oldest medical systems in the world with a holistic approach to health, wellness and longevity. Believed to have been introduced to humans by the gods themselves and practised in Sri Lanka for over 4000 years, Ayurveda is an integral part of Sri Lanka’s culture and remains a way of life for many on the Island to this day.
Kur Resort Lanka am See is situated in Bentota, South of the Island, in a serene river-side setting designed to provide you with individualised traditional Ayurvedic therapy.
The medicinal plants used in the preparation of our herbal remedies are sourced from Kuliyapitiya, a village with strong healing energy and rich in the ways of Ayurveda, a place where practising physicians are born into the tradition of Ayurveda, where knowledge and skill have been passed down to practising physicians from generation to generation for over 200 years. Kuliyapitiya is the second largest town in Kurunegala District, in the North Western Province of the Island which is home to the ancient capital of Panduwasnuwara founded by King Parakramabahu the Great (1153– 1186 A.D.) – a skilled physician and surgeon himself, King Parakramabahu practised Desheeya Chikitsa (indigenous system of traditional medicine) which was later influenced by Ayurveda and Siddha of India and Unani medicine of Greece.

Kur Resort Lanka am See was born out of a desire to provide traditional Ayurvedic healing as prescribed by the sages and ancient texts in its purest most authentic form. This means approaching health and healing from a preventative, curative and promotive standpoint that treats the ailment at its root cause rather than managing the symptoms of the disease.
Our resort is dedicated to wellness and healing and therefore does not have any of the trimmings of a holiday resort that cater to walk-in guests or anyone who is not a health and wellness seeker.

Our resident lead physician Dr . ______ is a 4th generation Ayurvedic physician with over 50 years of experience, who brings to bear his 200-year-old lineage to patient care. Dr. _____ is supported by a team of experienced Western and Ayurvedic physicians, Ayurvedic therapists, Yoga instructors and dieticians.
